Józef Domińczak, 40, farmer of Raduczyce reports the birth of his daughter Anna on July 20, 1811. Mother Katarzyna Sobankówka (Sobanek), 30. Witnesses: Mateusz Sobanek, 28 & Łukasz Ptak, 50, farmers of Walków.
In those days people, esp. peasants often had double surnames-nicknames. As we can see in the marriage act of 1810 Józef had the surname Karczmarczyk, but he was Dominik's son, hence the patronymic Domińczak (Domin's son) found in Anna's birth act above. This is the time when peasants' surnames are being established - many of them were derived either from fathers' names or jobs - Karczmarczyk means literally "little innkeeper", i.e. "innkeeper's son'', could also be Kaczmarek or the like. By the mid-19th century one form finally prevailed but before that such alternating surnames-nicknames coexisted for a couple of generations. I have someone among my ancestors who used three different surnames-nicknames in the early 19th c.
Witam,
poszukuję Osyrów z Grodziska koło Kłobucka, dokładniej potomków Franciszka Osyry i Rozalii Pasternak. W latach 1902 - 17 rodzą się im dzieci: Bronisław, Stanisław, Władysław, Stefan, Stefania, Pelagia.
Witam.
Mieszkałem w Grodzisku 20 lat i pamiętam opuszczony dom Osyrów na początku lat 80-tych. Byli to sąsiedzi moich dziadków. Przy okazji odwiedzin rodziny w Grodzisku spytam o ich losy.
Pozdrawiam.
